Release the murderer of Malcolm X after 44 years in prison

Thomas Hagan, 69, left the New York prison where he slept two nights a week since he would join a work program that allowed him to start in 1992 to reside with his family and after being denied the parole in fourteen times since 1984.

Hagan was the only one of three arrested for the death of Malcolm X who admitted his involvement in a murder that occurred on February 21, 1965, while the activist was speaking in New York with 400 people and all his family, and for which he was sentenced to a term of twenty years imprisonment to life imprisonment.

The other two convicted African-American activist”s death, Muhammad Abdul Aziz and Khalil Islam, denied his murder and got paroled in 1985 and 1987, respectively.

“I have deep regrets about my participation (in the murder ). I believe that never should have happened, “Hagan said in court that finally agreed to grant parole, as recorded by the U.S. news channel CNN.

In order to win parole , Hagan had to find a job that had to remain “works in the same place for seven years and should keep their children as well as abide by a curfew imposed by the court, conditions that have to continue to play now .

The low-security prison to which he went so far Hagan is curiously at the corner of 110th Street in Manhattan with Malcolm X Boulevard, the route to New York City dedicated to the memory of one of the most active African-American leaders in its history.

Hagan, 69, was 22 when he came armed to the audience Audubon. After fire Malcolm X tried to escape, but the crowd stopped him and was arrested on leaving the compound, badly wounded in the leg.
